…After the labor strike that happened because of abuse and unjust firings in May, the staff of Radio KDNA agreed to return to work based on the agreement that was reached but it has been violated and the harassment continues.
Within two months after the strike ended the union contract had not been signed and even worse two more employees were fired based on a series of lies by Maria Fernandez and with complicity of some members of the Board of Directors and Ninfa R. Gutierrez. The fired employees are Saida Mariel Rodriguez and Jesus Sosa, and almost all volunteers have been dismissed. The question now is why Ninfa R. Gutierrez has been placed in Saida’s position. Is it because Ninfa and Maria Fernandez are from the same group that supposedly claims that it defends justice for Latina women…and if this is the case why of the four employees fired to date three are women? Where is the justice? Evidently it appears, taking advantage of the situation.
Why? Why do they continue to ignore and scorn the community. On Friday, August 21, the Board of Directors of Radio Cadena contracted Sister Guadalupe Guajardo so that supposedly she would serve as a mediator, to this mediation the community was invited and the majority of more than 80 persons present told Maria Fernandez directly and the board of directors that what they are doing is wrong and many of the participants asked them to resign their positions.
The community’s questions are: Did you know that the board of directors refused to accept members this year? Dozens of people that renewed their membership in May were turned down as unacceptable and their money was returned. Thousands of dollars are being wasted in payments to lawyers to fight against the staff and the union. Do you think that that is justice? The Radio Cadena membership campaign is being planned for the second week of September, will you contribute your money so that the Director Maria Fernandez can continue to persecute the staff and continue wasting it by paying expensive lawyers. Will you contribute your money while they ignore your membership?
